rootoftwo Receives Knight New Work Detroit Grant for 463NCY: A Cyberpunk Cooperative Game

Stamps Associate Professor John Marshall and Cézanne Charles, co-founders of the collaborative studio rootoftwo, are the recipients of a 2024 Knight New Work Detroit grant. Their project, 463NCY: A Cyberpunk Cooperative Game, is a digitally augmented tabletop game exploring the complexities of digital privacy in a world where it is treated as a commodity. This project is among five awarded by Knight Foundation, which supports art utilizing cutting-edge technologies to create immersive experiences that delve into Detroit’s rich cultural and societal narratives.
Earlier in 2024, rootoftwo play tested 463NCY: A Cyberpunk Cooperative Game at Detroit Imagines Harder: Futures of Work, a workshop and summit that asked attendees to use design fiction, speculative fiction, futures design and imagination to explore possible evolutions of industries and work structures.
