Roland Graf Presents iGYM at CHI 2019 in Glasgow, UK


Asso­ciate Pro­fes­sor Roland Graf pre­sented iGYM, an aug­mented real­ity sys­tem for inclu­sive play at the ACM CHI Con­fer­ence on Human Fac­tors in Com­put­ing Sys­tems, a pre­mier inter­na­tional con­fer­ence of Human-Com­puter Inter­ac­tion (May 4 – 92019). 

iGYM was inspired by one of Graf’s ear­lier media art projects and inter­ac­tive pro­jec­tion sys­tems and is part of an inter­dis­ci­pli­nary research col­lab­o­ra­tion with fac­ulty in Engi­neer­ing and the School of Infor­ma­tion at the Uni­ver­sity of Michi­gan. The sys­tem is cur­rently in devel­op­ment. It is designed for school and com­mu­nity-based sport or recre­ation facil­i­ties seek­ing to pro­vide novel and acces­si­ble ways for peo­ple with dif­fer­ent abil­i­ties to play and exer­cise together.
