Rita Dibert: Kiwi As, Eh

New Zealanders and Americans both speak English, but vernacular usage can mean that immigrants to either country are constantly translating. To fulfill the mandates of her Whanganui UCOL Faculty Grant, An examination of Differences between New Zealand and American English Usage”, Rita Dibert (BFA 1969, MFA 1971), Head of Fine Art Photography at the Quay School of Arts, Whanganui UCOL in Whanganui, New Zealand produced a one person exhibition at Space Gallery in Whanganui, New Zealand, Kiwi As, Eh.”

Included were a number of both American and New Zealand dictionaries, both casual and official, as well as scolarly linguistic examinations of Kiwi English. Several images from the exhibition can be viewed on Rita’s site.
