Paula Schubatis (BFA 2013) playfully examines the intersection of science, nature and art through her large-scale painting and fiber works at 555 Nonprofit Gallery and Studios in Detroit, MI. A selection from her newest oil painting series, Forging A Vernacular Identity, will be shown for the first time alongside their woven textile counterparts. The exhibition will also feature projections of new digital imagery by 555 artist Hugo Navarro and projected electron microscopy photographs by Lauren Tanabe.
The exhibition runs from July 18th through August 17th, with an opening reception on Thursday, July 18th 6 — 9 PM, in conjunction with Detroit’s Third Thursdays Art Hop, and including a musical performances by Blue Pontiac and johnny LZR.
