Nick Tobier presents the growing local and international design work of the Brightmoor-Ishinomaki collaborative at CIEE 2018 in Barcelona, Spain.
Focussing on the work of Ishinomaki Lab, a furniture and design studio based in Ishinomaki and Tokyo, Japan alongside the work of the Brightmoor Maker Space, the presentation panel moderated by Brad Hammond of U of M’s Center for Japanese Studies entitled, “Decentering the Academy in International Service-Learning: Toward Community-Community Engagement. ” Nick’s work looks at grass-roots design and hands-on production as a facilitator of collaboration.
