A recent MLive article looks at Stamps faculty Nick Tobier and Roland Graf’s Brightmoor Runway project, which will transform a section of a broken sidewalk in Detroit’s Brightmoor community into an illuminated running, play, and exercise track.

A pair of professors plan to turn a section of broken sidewalk in northwest Detroit into an illuminated track for running, play and exercise.

With funding from a national organization that builds playgrounds around the country, the Brightmoor Runway project will transform a stretch of dilapidated sidewalk behind Detroit Community High School in the Brightmoor neighborhood.

Professor Nick Tobier and Assistant Professor Roland Graf, both of the University of Michigan’s Stamps School of Art & Design, recently learned their project was selected as a finalist out of a pool of more than 1,000 entries in KaBOOM!‘s Play Everywhere Challenge.”
