Mike Bianco to Participate in Exhibition on Climate Change
2nd year graduate student Mike Bianco’s recent project “The Eco-Chat Line” has been selected for the upcoming exhibition Brave New World, at OFF Space in San Francisco, CA.
From the curators of the show: Brave New World, an exhibition probing the issues, strident conversations and constant state of instability surrounding climate change. Please join us to experience these challenging, unconventional and even flippant responses exploring one of the most wide reaching problems facing us today. What is the role of the artist as citizen in this climate? How might we reclaim our choice, our connection, our social power when immersed in a deteriorating environment? Sixteen artists from around the globe address our hopes and fears for the future with objects, images and gestures that are poetic, irreverent and challenging. Ranging from direct actions with the public to meditative sound and video, photography and painting; these artists address our dismay, propose solutions, offer support and tend to the soul with poignant métaphores. Staged at Space Change Artist Space in the vénérable offices of Rhodes & Fletcher, LLC., in the Merchants Exchange Building.
Brave New World confronts our anxieties within our individual, social, political and economic surroundings.
Featuring artists: Amy Balkin, David Beck, Michael Bianco, A Mused Collective, Gioj de Marco, Alicia Escott, Angus Forbes, Alan Hopkins, Claire Jackel, Cigdem Kaya, Andreanna Michon, Barbara Milman, Emmanuelle Namont Kouznetsov+ Elyse Hochstadt, Michelle Wilson and Kathrine Worel
