Rita Lee: Southeastern Michigan Artists Respond to Chicago and Shapiro’s Womanhouse

Postcard

Work by Rita Lee (BFA 2014) is included in a group exhibition at the Art Kettle’s inaugural show: Dear Womanhouse, What Now? The exhibition is an exploration of the female experience, societal ideas of gender roles, and domesticity through a full-house installation and performance collaboration. The show is a direct reference to the iconic 1972 Womanhouse project, led by Judy Chicago and Miriam Shapiro in Hollywood, California.

The exhibition’s opening reception takes place from 6 — 9 pm on October 12, with two ticketed performances by Musique Noire at 7:00 and 8:20 pm. Find tickets on Eventbrite.

The exhibition will be open every Friday from 6 – 9 PM, and every Saturday and Sunday from 1 – 4 PM until November 16.

The Art Kettle is the visual arts extension of Riverfolk Music and Arts Organization. Dear Womanhouse is generously supported by Riverfolk Music and Arts Organization, The Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs, The Arts Alliance, The Michigan Chapter of the Women’s Caucus for Art, and The Feminist Art Project.
