Media Live Ypsi

Members of the Stamps community are at the center of Media Live Ypsi (MLY), a two-day live art festival launching this week in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Connecting two venues, Riverside Art Center and C.Y.N.K. Studios — directed by Sally Clegg (Stamps Lecturer III and Student Exhibition Coordinator, MFA’20) and Abhishek Narula (MFA’20) — MLY brings together experimental works in audio, video, projection, and performance.

The inaugural festival, taking place on Friday, October 10 – 11, will feature artists from Southeast Michigan and beyond, creating a network of one-time-only installations. Learn more about the festival in a profile by Martin Slagter for Pulp.

to care for ______, &” invites you to an evening of care-focused durational performances. Through repetition and touch, each performance offers the chance to notice what shifts, to discover an alternative. In repeating and returning, we learn what holds, what transforms, and what grows — in ourselves, our bodies, our communities. As Hiʻilei Hobart writes, care constitutes a feeling with, rather than a feeling for, others.” In sustaining these interventions, we create an experience of time with the audience, to be shared rather than simply handed off. Care returns, again and again, to one person, to a group — to a community. These performances are mediations of time transformed into acts of care.
