Marcella Janush-Kulchitsky Appointed Programming Chair of MEDEA

Marcella Janush-Kulchitsky (BFA 1986) was recently appointed as Programming Chair of MEDEA, the Middle East Design Educators Association. 

MEDEA serves as an inspirational and informational platform for design educators in the Middle East. The association provides an opportunity to share ideas, methods, challenges and opportunities, and to foster dialogue between the design industry and those who educate the next generation of designers. With this new appointment Professor Marcella hopes to further the discourse of design amongst students and faculty in the Middle East. 

Professor Kulchitsky was a founding Board Member of MEDEA in 2012, and is currently an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at the American University of Kuwait. Prior to her academic appointments, she worked as a designer, art director and creative director in the private and non-profit sectors in the Washington, D.C. area specializing in branding, annual report design, environmental and wayfinding design systems, magazine and book design. She has lectured at the American University of Beirut, Department of Architecture and Design. She received her BFA from the University of Michigan, School of Arts in Ann Arbor, MI, and her MFA from the School of Visual Arts at Boston University, Boston, MA

Professor Kulchitsky and a colleague from Beirut are currently in the final stages of completing a book project with an author in Doha, Qatar. The book, entitled, We Both Say Amen, is a children’s book which identifies common features of Islam and Christianity. Marcella contributed the illustrations and design for the book, expected to be published in August, 2017.
