John Gutoskey (MFA 2014) will be the featured solo artist at the Ella Sharp Museum in Jackson, Michigan as part of their 50th anniversary celebration. His show, “Shaman Johnny“s Pop-Up Shop & Gallery”, will be on display from Saturday, July 18 to October 10, 2015. Through works in printmaking, found objects, assemblage, display, and installation, the artist creates an environment designed to facilitate conversations about queerness, queer identity, and queer space, and how that is manifested in the 21st century. The show features a shop and gallery, a photo booth, and a sacred back room.
Shaman Johnny will be meeting with guests at the opening reception, on Friday, July 24, 2015 from 6 — 8 pm. There will be several other shamans at the opening reception offering meditation, I‑Ching readings, and energy bodywork. You can also have your portrait taken in the photo booth with Shaman Johnny.
