Jane Prophet Evaluates Research and Creative Practice in Hong Kong

Jane Prophet demos DictionARY,” an augmented reality work that invites participants to point their mobile devices at a graphic marker to see texts appear in front of you. DictionARY was part of the 2019 U‑M exhibition, Bookmarks: Speculating the Futures of the Book and Library.

Jane Prophet, Associate Dean for Research, Creative Work, and Strategic Initiatives at the Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design, has been appointed to serve on a panel that evaluates the quality of all research and creative practice in Hong Kong universities, encouraging world-class research and promoting excellence. Organized by University Grants Committee (UGC), the Hong Kong Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) will take place in 2020.

Prior to her time at the Stamps School, Prophet held faculty positions at Goldsmiths College, University of London; City University, Hong Kong (where she was Associate Dean for Research); and University of Westminster, London. This will be the sixth RAE conducted to date. Past efforts occurred in 1993, 1996, 1999, 2006, and 2014.
