Issy Wilson: Making Murals on the Appalachian Trail

Issy Wilson (BFA 20) has recently created multiple murals along the Appalachian Trail.

After graduating from Stamps in 2020, right at the start of the pandemic, I decided to hike on the Appalachian Trail for four months. I walked from Hanover, NH to Hot Spring, NC (about 1500 miles). The following year, I returned to the trail and created six murals at hostels that I’d stayed at in the South. I offered them in the style of my Flower People,” a character that I created after my first hike, and on a work-for-stay/donation basis. I plan to return and finish hiking the entire trail (around 2200 miles) this May of 2022.

Wilson has also created six additional new murals in Evanston, IL, Atlanta, GA, and Marquette, MI.
