The Ann Arbor Fiberarts Guild welcomes guest speakers with presentations on handmade lace and historical costumes at upcoming meetings in March and April.

Handmade Lace Through the Centuries

Mary Salmon, curator and owner of The Lace Museum in Northville, MI, will share her experiences in collecting handmade lace and fashion from around the world at the April 9, 2018 meeting of the Ann Arbor Fiberarts Guild. Her museum an extensive collection of antique handmade lace and fashion from Europe, Ireland, England, and the United States including tools and antique equipment. Guests are welcome. 

Fantasy Fashions: A Trunk Show of Historic Styles

Helen Welford began creating gowns for period ballroom dancing in 1993 for herself and for others. When creating each gown, she uses her extensive library of historical references and source material gleaned from 35 years of working in the fiber arts. Her talk, on May 14th, for the Ann Arbor Fiberarts Guild will cover her journey from early weaving to creating complex, historical costumes. Models will exhibit gowns; others will be on display.
