Face To Face in Haiti & The Dominican Republic
Stamps School of Art & Design Dean’s Advisory Council member Gary Halby’s new book, Face to Face, is a collection of portraits of the people of Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
Face to Face is a book of the faces of the people of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. These portraits not only reveal emotions but a sense of what has come before, ancestral links and the ways in which time wears on people. The one thing I knew is that I wanted to capture the soul of the place and of the people. There was a story to be told through the portraits of the patients. It is said that the eyes are the window to the soul. My intention was to peak through that window with my camera. I feel I accomplished my goal with the images in this book.
