Celeste Brusati Joins A&D Community
Professor Celeste Brusati has joined A&D as a courtesy faculty member. Celeste is chair and professor in the History of Art Department in the College of LSA. She also holds a faculty appointment in Women’s Studies.
She has written on still life, trompe l’oeil, self-imagery, technologies of seeing, ideologies of art and gender, and the interplay of pictorial and textual discourses of art in the Netherlands. Her current work examines fictions of viewing and their functions in Dutch still life and genre painting. Her books include Artifice and Illusion: The Art and Writing of Samuel van Hoogstraten University of Chicago Press; and Johannes Vermeer (Rizzoli Art Series), Rizzoli.
