Allen Samuels: Design for a Conceptual Scale

Stamps Dean and Professor Emeritus Allen Samuels has designed a scale for home owners to use that provides a readout. In addition, this scale captures the user’s body as they stand on the scale and projects their image in color on an adjacent wall. The purpose is to see a representation of themselves. One can then tap the add (+) and subtract (-) tab, to project an image one pound for each tap. The goal of this conceptual design is to provide visual feedback illustrating the results of dietary choices in order to help a user make healthy and safe decisions.
