Financial Support from Stamps
All applicants admitted to the MFA program will receive identical support with their admissions offers. It includes:
a graduate assistantship that covers 75% of the cost of tuition, a semester salary of at least $5,150, and health and dental insurance
annual project funding up to $5,000
travel and research funding up to $4,500 for the International Project
Each semester, two to three competitive teaching positions are made available to MFA students. These positions cover 100% of the semester’s tuition and provide a semester salary of at least $8,260.
Financial Support from Rackham Graduate School
Stamps graduate students are eligible to apply for additional funding through the Rackham Graduate School, including the Graduate Student Research Grant, a noncompetitive opportunity for up to $1,500 in research funding. The MFA program also annually nominates eligible students for the Merit Fellowship, Non-Traditional Fellowship and the International Student Fellowship.
Financial Support from Other University Units
Stamps graduate students are eligible to apply for – and often successful in obtaining – additional funding across the University, including grants from CEW+ and research funding from the International Institute.
