“The transformative potential of Utopia depends on locating it in the future, on thinking through the process of transformation from the present, and identifying the potential agents of transformation.”
- Ruth Levitas in Tom Moylan, Dark Horizons: Science Fiction and the Dystopian Imagination.
To coincide with the Detroit Design Festival (Sept 19 – 23), City Speculations showcases international and regional projects and visionary projections with the physical city of Detroit and its surrounds as a lens to look at the shape of physical cities through emergent creative design in public spaces, emergent economies, transportation and mobility.
Participants & projects include: Matt Bua & Maximillian Goldfarb, The Museum of Vestigial Desire, Mary Lum, McClain Clutter, Perry Kulper, Michael Rieper, The Center for Genomic Gastronomy, Office of Architectural Inventions
