Exploring Lithography Printmaking (From Stone to Plate)

Prerequisites: All OF THE FOLLOWING: ARTDES 235: Intro to Printmaking.
Description: Students explore lithography printmaking and create unique prints and multiples utilizing both digital and analog input/output. Class demonstrations cover a range of lithographic processes and introduce students to making and printing images from a variety of planographic surfaces: limestone (analog and photo-transfer), ball-grain metal plate, photosensitive plate (light-exposure), CMYK-printing (multi-plate lithography), and pronto plate (photocopy). Lectures, visiting artists-speakers, discussions, projects and engagements place lithography printmaking within larger sociocultural contexts.Frequency: This course is typically offered in the winter term of every academic year, though scheduling may vary according to future term circumstances.
