Description: In this studio course, students explore what happens when a moving image is unleashed from a standard screen or monitor and allowed to occupy space with the spectator. Through a series of assignments, students learn to project moving images onto “alternative screens,” such as walls, floors, bodies, and 3D objects. The course focuses on best techniques for framing, sequencing, and shaping videos in sculptural, installation, and performance contexts. The course also gives students the opportunity to contemplate light as a primary medium.Frequency: This course is typically offered in the fall term of odd-numbered years, though scheduling may vary according to future term circumstances.
