From Tree to Table

Description: Have you ever wondered where lumber for your projects comes from? In this course, you will transform logs harvested from campus trees into lumber that you will use to build tables for use on campus. Teams will design the tables based on partnerships with specific U‑M departments. We will explore topics of sustainable forestry, Michigan forestry, Fast Furniture, and table design. Students will develop the skills needed to manufacture furniture-grade tables. You will learn how to operate a sawmill safely!Frequency: This course is offered occasionally in the winter term.
