Interaction Design
ARTDES 345.001, Winter 2025
Credit Hours: 3
Semester: Winter 2025
Prerequisites: ANY ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: ARTDES 210: Typography, ARTDES 241: Intro to Product Design, ARTDES 245: Building Web Interfaces.
Description: This course introduces students to the spectrum of design approaches that involve interaction, focusing primarily on the principles underpinning interaction design and the fundamentals that would apply to any interaction problem in the same way that gestalt and design principles apply to any visual problem. Projects challenge students’ ability to apply these principles to a variety of interaction scenarios — web, product, experience — and emphasize design and prototyping rather than production of solutions. Students leave the course prepared for interaction design projects involving more specific and complex challenges.Frequency: This course is typically offered in both the fall and winter terms of every academic year, though scheduling may vary according to future term circumstances.
