Description: This introductory academic class defines what a study abroad program is and is not, describes personal challenges of living abroad, describes several kinds of study abroad program models, and discusses the history of study abroad programs and current focus on increasing accessibility and diversity of participants. It gives information on passports and visas, the program application process, financial aid, and scholarships. It helps students understand their own level of risk tolerance and become aware of different kinds of educational systems.
