Art Theory Seminar

Description: This course covers key debates in theoretical approaches to contemporary art, material culture and visual studies. From new materialism, speculative, relational and new media aesthetics, to critical topics of inequality, social and climate justice and the most recent debates around the Black Lives Matter, #MeToo and LGBTQ+ movements, key texts and art works are approached together with interdisciplinary breadth. Assignments in the course focus on each student’s deep and critical engagement with their own topic, research agenda or medium of expression.
