Prerequisites: All OF THE FOLLOWING: ARTDES 100: Drawing: Observation.

Description: Through intensive studio sessions, this course focuses on drawing the live model, both clothed and unclothed. Students investigate ways that the figure is used and referenced in the work of contemporary artists, and they explore strategies for using the figure in drawings that are creative and expressive in nature. The goals of this course include gaining a better understanding of the figure and its significant role in the history of art, improving figure drawing skills, and pursuing unique methods of personal expression through the use of the figure in drawing.

Frequency: This course is typically offered in every winter term as well as in the fall term of odd-numbered years, though scheduling may vary according to future term circumstances.
