Details

Credit Hours: 3
Semester: Fall 2024

Prerequisites: No Prerequisites.

Description: Studio 3D focuses on the development of artists and designers through direct experience and the practical study of basic principles relevant to an understanding of three-dimensional form. Conceived as a broad-based, integrative approach to learning as well as making, this entry-level studio course will sensitize students to the formal language, vocabulary, concepts, and principles associated with three-dimensional composition and construction. Throughout the semester students gain technical skills as well as an enriched sense of aesthetic judgment. Projects emphasize the manipulation, organization, and analysis of materials and space, their implications for meaning as well as the contextual relationships of object to environment. The major intention of the Studio 3D experience will be to encourage discovery and stress the discipline necessary to achieve artistic growth and excellence. These activities form the foundation for more advanced study in art and design.

Frequency: This course is typically offered in both the fall and winter terms of every academic year, though scheduling may vary according to future term circumstances.
