Prerequisites: All OF THE FOLLOWING: ARTDES 120: Studio: 3D.

Description: This course introduces students to a variety of creative work with clay through both hand-building and wheel forming techniques. Students experiment with low, mid-range and high firing temperatures. Projects cover themes related to the ceramic object’s relationship to both painting and sculpture, functional design, narrative realism and history, society and culture. Problem solving assignments encourage students’ individual aesthetic development and interests and their relationship to contemporary art and design practices. Participation in group discussions, critiques and studio processes is required.

Frequency: This course is typically offered in both the fall and winter terms of every academic year, though scheduling may vary according to future term circumstances.
