Abrasion (Unforgiving Love)

Abhishek Narula

lilac log, 120 grit sand paper, kinetic mechanism, motors, electronics, custom code, 2025

Exhibited at Machina Ex Natura
Kentucky College of Art & Design, Louisville
Curator: Shohei Katayama

In this kinetic installation, a lilac branch is drawn repeatedly across an abrasive surface. Each pass wears it down, releasing dust, fragments, and the faint sweetness of its oils. What emerges is a fleeting beauty — a presence shaped through the very act of destruction.
