This piece was my first haute-couture project, which was self-directed. My goal was to create a 100% sustainable garment by using discarded fabric, that would otherwise go to a landfill. The base layer of the piece is deadstock upholstery fabric. The sleeves and Peter Pan collar have three layers: the deadstock fabric base, fabric scraps from past projects, and repurposed tulle from my curtains. I sandwiched the scraps between the two layers of fabric and secured the pieces with parallel stitching.
