Table-like sculpture, where the top portion has eight panels connecting the flat circular top with the circular middle piece. In each cutout panel is a figure from a hand-drawn animation sequence. From the middle section downwards are four legs, halfway connected to each other by a circular panel.

Oftentimes, sketching out ideas for projects feels like I’m trying to outrun my thoughts. In brainstorming for this case, noticing that feeling was helpful. The idea of running was something that stuck with me and demanded to be materialized. I combined the frames of a simple animation with plain panels in my design, trying to imitate a phenakistoscope. The top portion can turn by virtue of a faux lazy susan mechanism, and although it can't move fast enough (safely) to truly reflect an animation, the thought and intention is there. The whole process of creating this sculpture challenged me quite a bit, with learning new techniques and struggling with iterations, but I am very pleased with and proud of the end result.
