My self-portrait communicates a part of me that others may not know just by looking at the surface. I’ve always had sensitive hearing, and I’d be the only person in the room to flinch at a sound or be alerted by sounds and that other people don’t pay attention to or catch on. Some noises only cause me internal irritation and discomfort; sometimes I feel isolated as the only person affected by these sounds. To illustrate this hidden side of my identity, I created this self-portrait expressing how I am always surrounded by noises that only I might be able to hear.
