A dimly lit room is full of silvery, gloopy, stalactite-shaped sculptures. In the middle of the room is a regular laptop playing an ASMR video, and a pink desk chair sitting in front of the computer.

ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) videos originated and rose in popularity online in the 2010’s. What is it that we need, that we want, that these videos deliver? In this work, the artist performs as an ASMR content creator, leading viewers through a loose narrative examining the simultaneous desire and repulsion to connect and physically feel in digital spaces. The tongue-in-cheek installation serves to both amuse and disturb by creating a claustrophobic, glittering, embodied viewing experience. The installation asks: how do our own emotions, impulses, and even our bodies become entangled with the distant bodies and desires of others who flock to the internet seeking the same solace we do?
