This digital collage is a celebration of the joy, beauty, and safety found in women-only gatherings—a reflection of the parties I grew up attending, where Arab women came together to dance, sing, and express themselves freely. These spaces were vibrant, full of warmth and laughter, unburdened by the constraints of the outside world.
In crafting this piece, I wanted to honor the cultural significance of these gatherings, where women could be fully present in their bodies, adorned in traditional dress. By collaging women from different Arab traditions and time periods, I seek to bridge past and present, showing the continuity of these gatherings as a sacred ritual of joy, community, and sisterhood. In a world that often dictates how women should exist, these spaces serve as a form of resistance—where celebration itself becomes an act of liberation.
