I'd Rather Be Underwater

“I’d Rather Be Underwater” is an experimental self-portrait capturing the moment of emergence from water in my apartment bathtub. Water has always been a source of calm and peace for me, yet this image speaks more to the feeling of disconnection from the outside world. Underwater, everything is quiet, it engulfs us, wrapping around us like a cocoon of stillness. It offers an escape from the overwhelming noise and stress of daily life, replacing it with silence. This portrait explores the theme of escapism, reflecting the desire to withdraw and momentarily ignore the weight of external pressures.
