A pastel pink interactive art installation that asks, "how are you feeling... actually?" in large handwritten script on the wall. Blank paper cards hang from the ceiling by strings, inviting participation. A small round table with a lace-trimmed tablecloth is set with notebooks, a basket, and a framed welcome sign, with two white folding chairs positioned around it. The space is softly lit and designed to encourage reflection and engagement.

How are you feeling... actually?

How are you feeling… actually? is my response to the growing mental health crisis, particularly among women, who face unrealistic societal expectations and struggle to have their voices heard. Through journaling and creative expression, I discovered a deeply personal path to healing—one that is messy, imperfect, and raw. My work challenges the polished, idealized version of journaling advertised on social media, reminding others that the process of expression holds just as much value as the outcome. It’s not about perfect words or beautifully curated pages; it’s about embracing the unfiltered experience of self-reflection.

This is a space for emotional engagement, where participants can simply look, publicly respond to a prompt, or explore their thoughts more deeply in a private journal. This project is centered around a guided journal that examines how women’s bodies are shaped by social and political forces, a highly relevant topic today. It provides a structured, yet open-ended path to personal discovery. It also offers viewers a glimpse into my own non-linear journey, which has informed all of the designs and content of the guided journal.
