A series of drawn nudes and close ups of the body, each in a single color. Drawn with a textured doubled line to create a textured pattern, most pieces with the subject (the artist) gazing back at the viewer. There is an interactive space with two questions and a poem as well. An example of the pieces on the wall is one of them, a close up of an eye looking directly at the viewer done in varying levels of brightness in the color orange.

My Body

Emil Lamb

Digital work printed on Strathmore paper

Undergraduate
Working with the nude in a digital format this work contains themes about the gaze, power, the vulnerability through the nude, and learning self love. This work is also informed by the history of the female nude and the male gaze. Through working in charcoal to transferring to digital these nudes were made through a rocky shift in processes and hard choices of how to continue the project along the way. This piece is intended for everyone, but especially those who struggle to see themselves as beautiful, as art. In the hopes that maybe someday those people may come to learn to appreciate themselves in every way as art. Emil Lamb was born and raised in Michigan around the Flint area. Their work crosses many mediums and topics, but has a strong interest in painting, digital work, and fiber work. Though their latest focus has been on the body, specifically their own body as seen in its most recent form of My Body.
