In the video performance and installation Autoscopophilia, viewers enter a fun-house version of a dark cave where they encounter a simple laptop playing an ASMR video. The video features the artist performing as a content creator, and the work begins as a humorous interpretation of the ASMR genre. But the video quickly turns to a more complicated exploration of what emotional and embodied experiences we collectively seek from screens. Using the visual language of today's internet culture, Autoscopophilia looks at desire, alienation, and performed femininity and asks, how do we use our screens to disembody our own negative emotions?
