Viewing clothing as a vehicle through which we create a social skin to enter different spaces, this inquiry explores how we ‘script switch’ based on our environment. With consideration for the assumed characteristics others ascribe to us from our perceived identities, this work explores what we put on and take off as we impose those assumptions. These garments were designed in response to the perspective I assume others have of me, the perspective I have of myself, and the aspects of self that are not apparent. The content of these pieces primarily revolves around normative ideas of race, masculinity, and queerness, with one another and the idea of enforced identities.
