In the web design project Obsessed, I explore the complex dynamics surrounding the perception of fangirls, a group often polarized by mainstream discourse. Rather than adhering to reductive portrayals, I aim to characterize this group with a nuanced understanding. Drawing on the religious undertones present in fan culture, this project contemplates the dynamics of idolization and its potential subversions. With this exploration, I highlight the societal potential inherent in fangirl culture to alleviate societal hesitations toward emotional expression. At the core of my design philosophy lies the celebration of shared, treasured experiences. Perhaps we all have more fangirl in us than we realize.
