A Type Of Cabinet

Chloe Kreindler

Wood, wood stain, wood glue

Undergraduate
This is the biggest furniture project I have made, taking me twenty three hours within the span of two weeks. Although it was a tedious and grimy process, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the overall work time. Don't get me wrong, there were lots of moments where I wanted to throw it out of the window or at least kick it a few times but my maternal love for this piece stopped me. I am extremely proud of this piece, for both the outcome and the work put in. Furniture making allows me to express my own designs in a form that even people outside of art school can say "thats cool". It is very important to me that my projects are able to be viewed on a daily basis. In my opinion, how you view yourself and the self esteem that you project to others is extremely important to a higher quality of life. Seeing projects that I am proud of in my daily life makes me feel important and creative. It reminds not to grapple to every awkward moment because at the end of the day, I have the power to make cool furniture.
