Albiann Tully: Thresholds

Thresholds

Albiann Tully

The future of the Earth is uncertain, as well as the future of our relationship with nature. Our well being relies on nature, but society enables habits that are destructive to it. The circular black portal seen in the photographs is a threshold between manipulated and wild environments. The threshold invites us to enter the landscape and represents several concepts: the circle of life and death, an abyss deprived of nature's beauty, a door that leads to a greater understanding of our connections to nature, or the dark presence of humanity's impact on nature. With the portals and photographs, I explore my relationship with nature, a sacred space that deserves respect and protection.
