Through multiple layers of paint and exploration of color, opacity, and texture, my artwork interprets the wavering boundaries of the physical and spiritual worlds. My paintings explore our perception of these worlds through time, place, memory, and the experience of the Divine.
I believe these spiritual spaces and beings are real, yet they are often difficult to grasp without a physical presence to visualize. Frequently pulling from memories of landscapes, I use elements of nature such as reflections, patterns, and horizon lines. I choose to use this imagery because nature shares an intimate relationship with the sacred, whereby it is uniquely capable of inviting us to partake of this phenomena.
I am intrigued by the vastness of all the things we cannot see, most especially the things in our midst veiled just beyond our vision.
