Resonance consists of an array of LED light boxes mounted on the walls and ceiling of the Second Avenue viaduct in Detroit. These proposed 22 light boxes would amplify the banding of light and dark in the viaduct. Resonance would respond as you pass through the viaduct, increasing lighting and patterning, sequentially becoming brighter as you moved deeper into the space and in response to the presence of multiple people. This was a selected submission for the Viaducts Public Art Commission from Midtown Detroit, Inc. and funded by the New Economy Initiative and the John S. & James L. Knight Foundation. An r+d LAB project. Unbuilt.
