The lasting effects of trauma, namely Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (P.T.S.D), and dissociative disorders, can feel like being cursed. Je Meurs De Seuf Auprés De La Fontaine (I Die Of Thirst Beside the Fountain), is a digital animation that uses symbolism to illustrate the effects of traumatic stress on the psyche. I use the narrative of a woman being haunted to explore this experience, inspired by research on the cinematography of horror movies, psychological case studies about trauma processing, and recovering from traumatic experiences. The interweaving of realism and fantasy represents the fracturing of reality that can occur when suffering from the aftereffects of trauma, and the distrust it can create with one's own mind. The antagonist is a parallel to the protagonist, and represents the trauma which haunts her. The damage this malevolent entity causes represents self destruction.
