Penny Stamps Speaker Series

About the Series

Established with the generous support of alumna Penny W. Stamps (1944-2018), the Speaker Series brings respected innovators from a broad spectrum of fields to the School to conduct a public lecture and engage with students, faculty, and the larger University and Ann Arbor communities.

Design professional, arts advocate, philanthropist, and friend Penny W. Stamps dedicated herself to elevating opportunities for the culture-makers of tomorrow. In 2012, the U-M Board of Regents named the School of Art & Design in her honor, creating the Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design at the University of Michigan. The Stamps Gallery and Stamps Creative Work Awards are also named in her honor.

Unless otherwise noted, all programs take place on Thursdays at 5:10 pm at the historic Michigan Theater, located at 603 E. Liberty Street in downtown Ann Arbor, and are free of charge and open to the public.

Additional support is provided by series sponsors Michigan Radio (WUOM 91.7 FM), ArtsEngine, Washtenaw County Arts Alliance, and the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.
