Curriculum Vitae- B. Arch, North China University of Technology
- BFA, School of Art Institute of Chicago
Zhongxing (Jack) Liu is an interdisciplinary artist with a background in architecture and fine arts. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from North China University of Technology and later earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. This dual education in spatial design and artistic practice informs his current work, which bridges sculpture, performance, and architectural thinking.
Jack’s practice explores the psychological and symbolic dimensions of space and materials. His installations often feature site-specific elements and conceptual structures that blur the line between order and collapse, permanence and disposability. Influenced by thinkers such as Bernard Tschumi and J.G. Ballard, he creates “situational architectures” that evoke both fascination and unease—spaces where viewers are invited to navigate disruption, confrontation, and reflection. His use of monumental forms, fractured blueprints, and ephemeral matter speaks to a broader inquiry into power, decay, and the human impulse to control and destroy.
Beyond his practice, Jack is also interested in socially engaged art. He has worked as an artist assistant in a contemporary sculpture studio in Beijing and served as a teaching assistant at an independent art education program, where he supported student development through critique and hands-on instruction.
