Davariz Broaden is a figurative painter commonly using a muted color palette, his paintings use bold, gestural brushwork to capture everyday moments of connection, movement, and care. Broaden’s compositions depict groups of figures dispersed across the canvas at varying scales and depths, creating a layered space and sense of momentum. Honing in on the attempt of “freeing myself” from inherent societal constraints, his paintings distill a soft essence and highlight the importance of intimacy and community within the Black experience.
