The Tappan Collective: NYC Popup Through May 7

Tappan Collective Artists 1

The Tappan Collective is a go-to site for discovering and collecting original artwork and limited edition prints by emerging artists at an affordable price. The online shop is enhanced by a myriad of engaging digital content, as well as a physical presence at art fairs and pop-up exhibitions – like their much-loved event at the Standard LA – and significant collaborations with some of art, fashion and music’s finest up-and-comers. It all started when Chelsea Neman (BFA 2010), an aspiring artist, and Jordan Klein, an art historian and graphic designer, met at the University of Michigan where they studied together in Michigan’s Tappan Fine Arts Library. Upon returning to their native LA, the enterprising duo began working in traditional art gallery environments which reinforced their quest to create a fresh and unconventional online platform. After graduating in 2010, Chelsea followed her passion as an artist and Jordan pursued a career at an art gallery. They quickly realized the lack of opportunity for emerging artists. Many of their talented friends fresh out of art school were struggling to exhibit and sell their artwork. Jordan and Chelsea saw great opportunity for an online platform that would connect emerging artists to the many aspiring art collectors seeking contemporary artwork at affordable prices. They’ve tapped into local art scenes across the world to curate a collection of cutting-edge work by the next generation of artists.
