Support Ceramics and Studio Culture on Giving Tuesday
This Giving Tuesday — December 2, 2025 — we hope you will join us at the Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design to support the Ceramics Studio: an essential destination for students, faculty and staff to engage in deep 3D material exploration.
This year, the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) will be held in Detroit, creating a singular moment where an international clay community will come to Michigan seeking connection, inspiration and artistic excellence. Attending the conference connects the Stamps community to this international clay community while deepening its ties to an essential material practice.
The Ceramics Fund supports opportunities that will benefit students engaged with ceramics, including assistance with NCECA registration fees. Growing this fund builds on the legacy of rigorous engagement with the medium and shapes the future of clay through unique offerings.
Your gift will help the school build on the legacy of rigorous studio practice through engagement with clay. Our goal is to help support students, faculty, and staff to attend the NCECA conference, where they’ll engage with artists and educators from all over the world in celebration of the ceramic arts. We hope you’ll join us to enrich the Stamps student experience with this amazing opportunity for connection, networking, learning, and essential material practice.
“Communities like NCECA share knowledge openly and connect to wider contemporary art practices. It is important that we connect students to these resources to help them build scaffolding for a post-graduation life,” notes Stamps Assistant Professor Quinn A. Hunter. “By supporting the Ceramics Studio Fund, we ensure that the next generation has access to the tools, kilns, and the collaborative energy that sustains these the meaningful connections they create.”
Established in 2012, Giving Tuesday, an international day dedicated to charitable giving, has grown into a global movement, motivating millions to unite in support of charitable organizations and initiatives. After Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday shifts the focus to the true meaning of the season: compassion and kindness.
At the University of Michigan, Giving Tuesday opportunities will include matching challenges for featured projects and additional chances for participating programs to get an additional financial boost. Donation pages go live at midnight on Tuesday, December 2 and remain active until 11:59 p.m.
